Foundation Sires

Foundation Herdsires

There are many phenotypically beautiful alpacas in the world.  We have all seen them at shows or in various ads. The breeding philosophy of Timberland Alpacas' highly successful breeding program is first and foremost focused on the “Power of Pedigree”. The most beautiful herd sire is only as valuable as the quality of offspring that he produces. This is the definition of a prepotent herd sire. A male alpaca at Timberland Alpacas does not earn the title of "Foundation Herd Sire" until he has proven his ability to transmit his positive traits onto his offspring. Timberland Alpacas is extremely proud to list their Foundation Herd Sires.

Junior Herdsires

Always looking towards the future, Timberland Alpacas is pleased with their up and coming junior herdsire prospects. While these beautiful males are too young at this time to be called Foundation Herdsires, they have already shown the promise that this title will be attained once their first crias arrive. As always, the Power of Pedigree that holds their promise is unimpeachable.

We now have moved 2 of our young males onto full time working status joining the lineup of our other extremely proud foundation herdsires that we currently use in our program.

At this time we our reevaluating our new lineup of future young males. Check back with us for information regarding these new prospects or call us for questions applying to your breeding programs needs.

Pperuvian Accoyo Victor (In memoriam)

A tremendous impact was made on the breeding program of Timberland Alpacas in 1994 with their acquisition of Pperuvian Accoyo Victor.  Victor was the youngest male that arrived in the Peruvian importation of 1994, and in the words of the late Dr. Jim Vickers, had the "most beautiful fleece".  Victor's fleece swept the awards in the 1995 AOBA National Fleece Show, garnering awards for Best Growth Huacaya, Most Uniform Huacaya, Best Crimp Huacaya, Spinner's Choice, and Cottage Industries' Choice.

One of the first Hemiaccoyo exemplary offspring is Victor's Valedar.  Valedar’s dam, Sara’s Sahara, was the very first Hemiaccoyo that was produced to Timberland Alpacas in 1995.  The genetic contributions from Hemingway's fiber characteristics are very evident in Valedar, and he is very close to being the splitting image of his grandsire.

vic Jr's hemiaccoyo paladin

Paladin is a fitting tribute to his sire, Victor's Jr., who was the first offspring of Sara's Sahara and Victor.  Vic Jr. was much beloved at Timberland for all too short eight years of his life as we believed that he, of all Victor offspring, most closely resembled his sire. One of his last offspring was Paladin.
